September 15th 2014 Pigeon Forge in the Smokey mountains, Tennessee.
We had a couple of stops along the way and noticed quite a drop in temperature along the way together with some wonderful scenery. The Americans call it fall we call it Autumn, all the same the changing colours of the leaves on the trees were very pretty. Sorry as we were on the motorway I didn't take any pictures
Its a long way so we had an overnight stop in a place named Orangeburg, its quite a nice place with a university so there were lots of reasonable places to eat, we ate Thai food it was very good.
So next stop Pigeon Forge Tennessee in the heart of the Smoky mountains.
Don fancied going to Dolly wood which is in Pigeon Forge thinking he may even get to see Dolly Parton. When we enquired about Dolly Wood it turns out to be like a kids or older kids theme park with rides so that went by the board so poor Don didn't get to see Dolly after all.
Pigeon Forge is very Disney, its really not a place for us with a mock Titanic, Empire state building with King Kong hanging from it, if we had really wanted that we would have gone to Orlando, oh well never mind.
We had a smashing hotel, the Clarion, its immaculately clean and the staff are very helpful they really take care of their guests.
Just a little 5 minute walk outside the hotel is a parade of various shops one area is all about Christmas, they are open all year round.
We drove to a smaller town a few miles away named Gatlinburg still disney but not quite so bad, we found Bubba Gumps, the shrimp is always good there.
So next stop Nashville on the next blog.
