Ready for off at last

Hi from Gibraltar again,
Well the Hydravane self steering is now being installed just another appendage on the stern which should help with both our sailing and power consumption, the electronic self steering uses up quite a lot and trying to hand steer is no fun on long stretches.

The "bracket" more holes drilled, bolted, waterproofed and secured

The red part is the Vane which will keep us in the right direction , its the stubby which only just clears our rails.

We fixed netting to the guard rails on the bow and quite a way back to try to save either us, sails from going overboard and anything else that may go astray.

The weather looking good to escape the cold wet miserable skies. We have taken advantage of the duty free available which is now carefully stowed away. Provision shopping done I must admit 4 trips to the supermarket the last one with Don and my trusty shopping trolley filled most of the locker space and cupboards. Meals prepared and hopefully everything packed so things won't be crashing about when we do have "choppy seas".
The next blog will be some time away as the crossing may take 5 to 6 days. This blog has had to be done after the crossing, watch this space!
