Even more news from Grenada

Well we are here for a long time

During Steve and Lizzies stay we took another trip to Gouyave for the fisherman's party, it was another long bus trip to the north again to the town on the west coast. The festivities mark the feast of St Peter, it was the last day of a 5 day event. Unfortunately we missed the ceremonies and other activities, there was boat racing and the blessing of the boats but did see lots of entertainment. Lets just say it was very lively and very very loud at times.

The whole place buzzes with folk everywhere whole families from the old to babes in arms.

Most of the restaurants and bars are open all night, there was local food everywhere which we sampled.

A great afternoon had by all, I'm afraid we missed the fireworks but we had to take the bus back to Hartman bay and believe me those bus rides can be an experience all on their own.

Grenada yet again more antics

I did mention before we have done and still are doing "things" in Grenada.

Here are some of the things we were up to while Steve and Lizzie were here.

Our friends Andrew and Clare from Eye Candy suggested that all the boats from our SSB radio net get together on Hogg island one sunday afternoon, so as the bar is open and food was available thats what we did.

 It was a nice afternoon some of us meeting up and putting a face to a name we have heard of or spoken to in the group.

Hogg Island is a dinghy ride from where we anchored out towards the reef and into the next bay. As Steve and Lizzie were with us we did our own pick-nick and took some bottles of wine.
We had the whole island to ourselves, we swam and ate our lunch and whiled away a few hours.

Grenada antics, mostly photos

In the last post I mentioned a visit to the rum distillery, well we did visit but the end result was not what we expected at all. Anyone need paint stripper? 

Don said it was his duty to sample the rum, I can't believe he had more than one glass

 So now you know how its done, pity all the work had finished when we arrived

Sugar cane, used and smelly, they burn it for fuel after they make the rum so its not wasted

So we had a great day out, there is a lot to see in Grenada.

When Steve and Lizzie came the plan was to go sailing for a while but the weather decided for us, we only managed to go as far as St George's.
